Welcome Back!
Happy New Year to everybody. We would like to welcome all our students back to class, as well as welcoming our new dancers who begin this year. Janine would like to congratulate our eisteddfod classes who received great results in 2009 in their competitions. As well as a congratulations to the duo & trio dancers for their terrific efforts in the eisteddfods. Best of luck in 2010!
2009 Dance Concert DVDs
The DVDs of the 2009 Annual Dance concert are now availble to be picked up! These are available from Janine at the dance hall. We hope that they will be a much-watched part of your collection!
$25 Incidental Fee
Again this year, we will be collecting a $25 cash payment, per student, to be paid in Term 1, to cover incidentals. The money collected will go towards end of year trophies, gifts and venue incidentals. As all children receive end of year trophies, I appreciate the $25 be paid by every student. This is in place of any fundraising events as we find this to be a more manageable system. The cost should be paid no later than the 12th of March. Thank you
Lost Property
There is a lot of lost property from 2010 classes and the dance concert, including a number of dance jackets. We would appreciate if you could check the lost property basket before/after class ASAP. Additionally, Janine would like to remind all dancers to label all costumes and general dance wear. That way we can give it back to you!
$30 Costume Deposit
All dancers are required to pay a $30 cash deposit for their dance costumes. Envelopes for the money have been provided in the first week of term. This is to be paid in CASH only by no later than Thursday 4th of March. Our sewing lady requires the money as she goes to great lengths to obtain the fabric and accessories that we require for our costumes. Note that is does not include eisteddfod costumes. Please be aware that no students will be given their costumes until they are paid for in full. Additionally, if your child leaves dancing before the costumes have been ordered, the $30 will be refunded. Thank you
Class Changes
As you may be aware, some children will be changing classes this year. However please do not be concerned if your child is staying in his/her class. Classes are graded by both age and dance level, and also depend on the size of the class. There are only so many places in the 'older' classes - and we are sure that the children will have a great time, regardless of their class!
Attention: Monday Class
Welcome to JF Studio Dancers! Please be aware that we will still have class ever pupil free day (ie. first day back at school). There will only be a couple of public holidays this year - however we will hold a 'make-up' class for these days, so that no students fall behind.
Term Fees
Dance fees are now $140 per term. Fees are due by the third week of each term. Monies should be handed to Janine Foster in the form of cash or cheque in a sealed, labelled envelope. Thank you. Please be prompt with your payments - these are due by the third week of term. Should the money not be recieved by the fourth week, fees will incure a $20 late fee, totalling $160.
Dance Exams
We remind students and parents that the JF Studio Dancers exams will be held in August/September. We encourage all dancers, of every level, to take part. Exams are a great part of confidence building and prepare students for future performances and competitions. We are aware of each students' personal abilities and ensure to place each dancer in his/her appropriate examination level. Dancers can start examinations as early as five years of age. Generally, students dance in groups of three or four, performing their dance learnt in class. We hope that many students take part in this dance opportunity and are happy to answer any queries you may have. Please look out for the pink note going out in Term 2 for enrollment in these exams.

JF Studio Dancers Beauty Tips
For our upcoming concert (or any performance!) make-up is important! Follow these easy steps for the perfect stage make-up.
Top 5 Stage Make up must-haves:
1. Eyes, eyes, eyes! The most important feature on the face. The darker the better! Eyeliner, mascara and darkish brown eye shadow. Make them standout!
2. Lips! Everyone has different shades of lippy, however try to use deep/bold reds.
3. Blush. Nice rosy cheeks are always seen from stage.
4. Foundation/Concealer. Foundation not only gives a clear complexion but it keeps the makeup on the face for longer, especially after all the costume changes.
5. Glitter. Dab some on your cheekbones! Not compulsory, however looks great on stage!
If there are any changes to your class' makeup for the concert your teacher will let you know. Otherwise, follow the above and you can't go wrong!
